KOROK Noise Control Systems – Additional Acoustic Solutions
Advanced Noise Control Solutions for Targeted Acoustic Performance
KOROK Building Systems introduces additional Acoustic solutions designed to tackle specific sound challenges in modern construction. Originally driven by the unique requirements of cinemas and terraced housing, these solutions bring versatile applications to a wide range of environments, enhancing comfort, privacy, and overall sound quality.
Why Choose KOROK Noise Control Systems?
Our additional acoustic solutions were developed with a focus on solving specialized acoustic issues. By studying the effects of various wall densities and configurations, we’ve created adaptable systems that address distinct sound transmission concerns. From minimizing sound bleed in high-traffic areas to achieving optimal acoustic separation between units, KOROK Noise Control Systems meet the needs of complex acoustic demands.
How Noise Control Systems Work
Our systems use a blend of wall densities and build-ups that are tailored to meet the specific acoustic needs of each project. By combining technical insights with flexible design, we provide solutions that integrate seamlessly into diverse building types while maintaining industry-leading standards in acoustic performance.
Key Applications of Noise Control Systems
Cinemas: Create immersive audio experiences without disruptive sound bleed between theaters, ensuring each audience enjoys undisturbed sound quality.
Terraced and Multi-Unit Housing: Reduce noise transfer between units to give residents a quieter, more comfortable living environment.
Other Specialized Spaces: Whether it’s office environments, hospitality spaces, or other commercial projects, our Noise Control Systems improve sound management, making shared and private spaces more acoustically efficient.
KOROK has a culture of investing in product testing across our core market segments, believing in developing systems that simplify construction with robust, evidence-based performance.
As our market evolves, so does the demand for high-performance, compliant systems. KOROK continually strives to stay ahead, providing evidence-based solutions, supporting documentation, technical support, and literature to the New Zealand Construction Industry.
Our technical team, led by David Cornelius, brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for the KOROK brand. We balance product innovation, testing, and technical support, ensuring that the industry benefits from practical, test-based solutions.
Pathway to testing:
KOROK collaborates with leading institutions such as BRANZ, Auckland University Acoustics Testing Services, CSIRO, and Warringtonfire Australia, alongside industry-leading fire and structural engineers, manufacturers, and consultants. This collaboration aims to deliver performance-based solutions that meet ever-evolving design requirements.
The testing process begins by identifying industry challenges, followed by setting objectives and the steps required to facilitate a solution. KOROK evaluates both suitability and compliance requirements while considering simple installation methodologies. A systematic evaluation of needs leads to a well-structured test program and assessments.
David and his team rigorously assess and refine processes, aiming to provide the market with simple, high-performance systems and applications that enhance both functionality and efficiency. Our goal is to ensure that every product meets the highest standards of performance and reliability.

The Bayfair Cinemas project is part of a $115 million development that marked the introduction of United Cinemas to New Zealand. United Cinemas, a prestigious Australian-owned chain, has been a leader in the industry since 1987. Known for its luxury cinema experience, United Cinemas operates 46 theatres across Australia, and Bayfair Cinemas in Mount Maunganui is its first venture in New Zealand. The complex includes seven state-of-the-art screens, featuring the region’s largest screen with Dolby Atmos Digital Sound, creating an unmatched cinematic experience.
KOROK® systems were selected for this project to provide industry-leading acoustic performance. Our 78mm KOROK® panels were installed throughout the cinema complex, ensuring superior soundproofing between screens and public areas. This acoustic control is essential for a seamless and immersive movie experience, eliminating external noise and maintaining sound quality within each theatre.
KOROK® is recognized as the number one choice for soundproofing in New Zealand cinemas, thanks to our ability to deliver fire-resistant, durable, and cost-efficient wall systems that also meet the high acoustic demands of modern theatres.
Why Choose KOROK® for Cinemas?
Superior Acoustic Control: Our panels are engineered to significantly reduce noise transmission between spaces.
Fire-Resistant Performance: KOROK® systems comply with stringent fire safety regulations, ideal for public spaces like cinemas.
Cost-Efficient Installation: KOROK® panels can be installed quickly, reducing both time and labor costs.
The Bayfair Cinemas project is a showcase of KOROK®’s commitment to delivering top-tier acoustic and fire-rated solutions for high-performance environments like cinemas.Â

KOROK® is the number one choice for sound-proofing in New Zealand cinemas.
51mm KOROK® panels are rollformed from zinc coated steel strips. The steel from which the shells are manufactured conforms to AS/NZS1397:2001. Steel shells have a base metal thickness of 0.4mm B.M.T. with a Z275 zinc coating. These panels have an aerated concrete core and weigh nominally 10.2kg per lineal metre.
KOROK® produces 51mm panel. KOROK® 51mm panel provides a -/60/60 FRR and is perfectly suited for terraced house intertenancy walls and apartment intertenancy walls. The narrower gauge allows you to keep more floor space as it isn’t taken up by walls.
Performance and Features
Fire Rating: KOROK® 51mm panels provide a fire resistance rating of -/60/60 FRR, meeting stringent safety requirements for intertenancy walls in terraced houses and apartments.
Acoustic Efficiency: Designed to reduce sound transmission, these panels ensure quieter living environments, making them an excellent choice for densely populated or high-traffic areas.
Space-Saving Design: The 51mm thickness allows for slimmer walls, helping to maximize valuable floor space without compromising structural integrity or performance.
Vertical Orientation: Panels are installed vertically and secured to timber or steel framing with aluminum brackets.
Versatility: Compatible with wall framing, insulation, and linings specified within the system appraisal, ensuring seamless integration into your building project.
Scope of Use: Appraised for all buildings of all importance levels as defined by AS/NZS 1170.
